* 40th Anniversary Regional Spring Show *

February 10th 2013

Our 40th Anniversary Show proved to be a great success with a bumper entry of 600, our biggest entry yet. We would like to thank the many helpers for their hard work before the show with set up, all the exhibitors for their support, the Judges, stewards, sponsors and everyone who helped to make the day such a memorable occasion.

Thank you also for the wonderful letters, e-mails and comments received on the day and for weeks afterwards ! We are glad you all enjoyed the day, it certainly made all the hard work worthwhile; who knows, we may do it all again for the 50th !

We were delighted to welcome many Life and Founder members, thank you all for your years of service to the club. The rogues corner containing many old photographs and memorabilia including the Minutes from the first meeting of K.P.F.S caused much reminiscing ! Many thanks to Liz Allonby for providing these snippets of history.

We were pleased to welcome P.C.G.B Council members Mr B.G.Ward , Mrs N Wilton and other invited guests including those from our neighbouring poultry clubs that have helped and supported the club over many years.

Our judges for the day were, Mr C Clark, Mr T Thompson, Mr R Elflett, Mr L Smith and Mr A Marshall.

Their task to have judging finished by 12.30pm was tackled and completed with ease, what a team !

Thank you to everyone who then helped turn a Poultry Show into a dining area in record time . Someone said afterwards, “what a pity it wasn’t filmed” and, “why don’t we do this more often….” ?!! As Nobby well knows……. it takes a little bit of organising !

With 120 seated for lunch our caterers had their work cut out but made sure everyone had their meal hot, the desserts that followed were simply delicious, thank you to all concerned.

After lunch our outgoing President, Mr Peter Hinton took the floor and thanked everyone for coming to share the day with us, followed by a brief history of the club.

Peter then handed over to Mr B.G (Nobby) Ward who asked everyone to stand for a minutes silence to remember one of our life members Mr Bill Howe and Mr Frank Clark, highly respected breeder and judge.

Nobby had a few anecdotes to relate and wished the Kent Poultry Club every success for the future.

After lunch the Egg Cup mementos were handed out to exhibitors to mark the 40th Anniversary followed by the Raffle. Trophy presentation and cutting the cake was carried out by our new President, Mrs Maureen Embry.

Quite simply it was a very special day in the company of wonderful, like minded friends .

Thank you all for sharing it with us.

Many Congratulations to Hugo Wells winning Best In Show with his Brahma pullet.

Hugo is one of our keen young committee members, just goes to show what dedication and hard work can achieve ! Young people like Hugo are the future of The Fancy . What a day to go Best in Show.!
Well done young man.
