** Spring Meeting 2012 **
The Spring meeting was very well attended with around 40 members. Particularly pleasing was the number of new young members taking part. Our speaker and egg judge for the evening was Ian Allonby who explained the role of the Poultry Club of Great Britain. Ian went on to explain it’s relevance within the Fancy and it’s role as custodian of the Breed Club Standards. He also outlined the Poultry Club’s role in encouraging and supporting the hobbyist/back garden keeper. Ian also congratulated the club on gaining Regional Status and wished Kent Poultry Club every success in the future. With over 70 plates of eggs to be judged Ian gave very informative explanation of his placings and encouraged audience participation his own flamboyant style! We were also delighted to welcome Liz Player on the evening. Liz is a Life Member, who, for many years served on Committee and contributed so much to the Club alongside her late husband Mike.
Best Eggs went to Christine Fuller with a plate of 6 Large Fowl AOC eggs.
