** Spring Voucher Show 2012 **

Judges Report by Dave Sill

We felt honoured to be asked to judge your recent show and thoroughly enjoyed it. A big thank you to the whole team, we were made to feel very welcome and the whole atmosphere was very friendly.

The new venue was excellent and the light good. We travel far and wide judging and exhibiting, about fifty shows last year; from the largest Agricultural Show to the smallest village halls so I speak with some authority, you are lucky to have found such a venue. Oh ! and by the way, the catering was excellent, home made too !

There was a good entry, plenty for me to do, which is nice and some good birds on show. From my point of view the Waterfowl and True Bantam sections were particularly strong but in the end we had to go for a nice New Hampshire Red male as our Show Champion. Congratulations to John Knibbs, who also had a Welsummer Bantam on Championship Row.

So, well worth the long trip and I’m sure your show will enjoy much success in the future. Keep up the good work.

Show Report by Lorna Mew

Despite all attempts by the weather during the week before, and on the day, our February Show went ahead, exceeding all expectations with a record entry of 477 poultry and eggs. Exhibitors braved the snow and ice to attend, some travelling from as far as Dorset, Isle of Wight and Suffolk and would like to thank them for their support.

We were pleased to welcome many new members showing here for their first time and also exhibitors from years gone by, it’s good to have you back !

We were honoured to have David and Hazel Sill down from Yorkshire to judge with, Paul Fox from Nottinghamshire and “our own “ Fred Hams. We hosted four Regional Club Shows and, with requests for additional Breed Classes our shows are becoming increasingly popular. Thank you to them for officiating.

The judges were unanimous in their choice for Best in Show, this went to John Knibbs from Wiltshire with the New Hampshire Red Breed Club Champion. Reserve went to Tracey Gunning with her Malay Bantam pullet. Congratulations to them on their success and to all the winning exhibitors.

Thank you to everyone who helped with set up and take down, your help was greatly appreciated. Thank you also to the team in the kitchen and the children for the excellent Raffle ticket selling !
